Welcome to our 6:00pm Service!
Also referred to as Sunday@6, our 6:00pm service is a contemporary service orientated towards older youth (Years 9-12), young adults, and the young-at-heart. Everyone dresses very casually and comfortably here.
We encourage everyone who arrives to wear a stick-on name tag as a way to get to know each other. You might be asked to write one if it’s your first time. From there, you can head into the church hall and grab a seat as our service starts.
We often start the service with a song, led by our band made up of church members. We sing modern worship songs. All the words will be projected on an overhead screen, but there’s no pressure to join in until you’re comfortable. During one of the songs, an offertory is passed around, which is one way that our church members give to the work of our church. If you’re new, just let it pass by- we want your company, not your money.
Each week, the service involves a mix of prayer, bible reading, more singing, a sermon and a time of announcements. Once a month we participate in communion, also known as the Eucharist, and many weeks there will also be a time of confession, which is a chance to reflect upon your week. There’s no pressure to take part in anything you’re uncomfortable with- we’re just happy you’re here!
At the end of service (around 7:30pm), everyone hangs around for some supper and a chat. Hang around as long as you like! It’s also a chance to meet and chat with people from our staff team.
Every week after the service, a number of our church members will make their way up to a local Thai restaurant to keep the good times and conversations rolling. The food is cheap and you’re always welcome to join.
We encourage all Senior Youth (Years 9-12) to attend the 6pm service each week as a way to grow, connect and participate in our church community.
Unfortunately, there’s no kids program at our 6pm service. If you’ve got kids from birth to Year 8, check out our 10:00am service, which offers a wide range of kids and junior youth programs.
Looking for something more traditional? Our 8:30am service might be the one for you.
Paul (Paulo) O’Brian is our Assistant Minister for the 6pm service. He has a big heart for young adults and would love to hear your questions about the service or help you plan a visit.
